Lichen Study IV

The fourth and final in a series of lichen studies based on lichens discovered on the West Coast of Scotland. I take thousands of photographs of lichen. I find it difficult to walk by them without stopping to observe the finite detail. 

This textural work has been made by wet felting wool tops with silk. Finished with hand embroidery. The yarn and silk are hand dyed. 

My studies are not intended to be direct facsimiles, instead I take inspiration from their form, colour and patterns and interpret that in my felt and stitch work.

Professionally framed in a beautiful bare faced oak wooden frame with a double mount board which I have written the title of the work and signed. The frame is a good quality, solid oak which has been not been varnished so the natural grain compliments the work. Ready to hang. An authentication label which I have also signed along with description is included.
