Description:
The workshop will be delivered by Lynn Comley during the Embracing Wool exhibition which runs from 4-8th June 2025.
You will spend the morning in the education room within the grand conservatory in the award-winning walled garden. This is a north facing room, which is a cooler temperature for working in the summer months.
This two and a half hour workshop will give participants the skills and techniques to be able to create a unique piece of felt textile art.
Using the wet felting technique you will learn how to lay out dry wool fibres, blending two colours, then adding accent fibres to create an illusion of depth. During the ‘wet’ stage, water, soap, and friction are applied eventually creating a unique piece of textile art!
As the work will be wet, we will use sample pieces of felt to practice any unfamiliar stitches and discuss ways you can embellish your work.
What's included:
All materials, equipment and tuition to guide you through the morning. A needle, pack of threads, to compliment your work along with embroidery stitch notes will be yours to take and finish at home.
You do not need any prior experience and you will be provided with all the necessary materials and equipment to use on the day. PLEASE bring a hand towel on the day and a suitable bag to take the wet towel and work home in.
Please note: Entry to the Embracing Wool exhibition and workshop is free. If you also wish to view the gardens a ticket must be purchased at the garden ticket office.
